MESİAD President Hasan Engin emphasized that Mersin does not have time to lose to solve the transportation problem, which is one of the biggest problems of our city, and stated that light rail system should be done instead of the subway planned in Mersin. Transferring the Metro will be more costly President Engin, "Mersin's transportation problem stage with light rail stage, should be solved in a short time and cheap cost," he said.

Mersin Industrialists and Business People Association (MESİAD) Chairman Hasan Engin said that the transportation problem of a metropolitan city like Mersin should be solved in an urgent manner, otherwise Mersin would be the loser. President Engin, the transportation problem; air pollution, the city's economy and tourism has hit a major blow to the transportation problem that has become gangrene for Mersin also shared with the public proposals. President Engin urged local authorities and all other institutions to take immediate action.

“METRO MERSIN IS NOT SUITABLE FOR STRUCTURE”

MESIAD President Hasan Engin, who made a statement for the Mersin Subway, announced that the work will start at 2020 in Mersin, said that the metro project is not suitable for the topography of Mersin and that the city economy and the budget of the Metropolitan Municipality will be narrowed.

President Engin; Yerine In Mersin, the tourism city, passengers will travel in mountain and sea views thanks to the light rail system that can be completed faster and cost less. The transportation problem should be solved with light rail system in stages, in a short time, with cheap cost. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality can complete this project with its own resources without the need for external financing. Metro project is not urgent ”.

PRESIDENT ENGİN GIVES THE EXAMPLE OF ENVIRONMENT PROVINCES

Mayor Hasan Engin said that wrong choices would be lost to Mersin by comparing the light rail systems in Adana and the surrounding cities. Radical decisions should be taken to benefit Mersin, if you make the subway no one can handle. For example, in Adana; due to the wrong route and preferences did not see the desired interest. Adana has been in pain for years. When we look at the example in the surrounding provinces; people prefer light rail for transportation as well as landscape. It is not a job to travel in kilometers in the sea city without making an underground subway and watching the sea and the mountains. ”

“THE END OF THE STATE JUNCTION WAS OVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED”

Speaking about the Harbor-Hal Interchange, President Engin stated that the Hal Junction, which was functionally completed, did not function sufficiently due to the port entry-exit traffic and used the following statements: the entry-exit routes should be taken into its own area urgently. Pedestrian sidewalks that do not pass by pedestrians and harbor walls can be changed to provide some road expansion. Traffic on the way to the harbor is constantly jammed. Hal junction is over but the traffic problem is not solved. Again, the same turmoil continues. If Mersin Port does not implement this formula, there is no solution for the traffic there. Functional state junction does not function as junction due to container crossings. ”

U TRANSPORTATION FROM THE SETTLEMENT AREAS TO INDUSTRIAL AREAS SHOULD BE EASILY ”

Emphasizing that the transportation from the residential areas to the working and industrial areas should be facilitated, President Engin said, “The main thing that should be said is that the industrialists have a minimum 45 minute traffic disruption at the east entrance while entering the city from the OIZ on the eastern line. There is no alternative road outside that road, so we say; 2. 18 zoning application should be opened as soon as possible from the Industrial Road to the Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone. With the completion of this road, there will be an alternative entrance to Deliçay which is the only entrance to Mersin from the east. The intensity here will decrease. At the same time, it is very important to plan the light rail system to the industrial zones from this road which will be extended, in terms of urban traffic ”.
