RAIL SYSTEMS IN ITALY

- Node lines connect basic and complementary lines to cities. The total length is 952 km.
In Italy, 11.921 km of rail system lines are electrified. 3 kV DC is used in conventional lines and 25 kV AC is used in high speed train lines.

Trenitalia has planned an investment of 4,5 billion euros for new vehicles. 460 million euros for NTV high-speed trains, 8,5 billion euros for the Lyon-Turin line and 8 billion euros for the ongoing Brenner Base Tunnel.
