WHAT IS THE EURASIA ROAD?
The right to receive a grant within the scope of the 5th Term of the Civil Society Dialogue Program financed by the European Union, the contracting authority of which is the Central Finance and Contracts Unit, and carried out by the EU Presidency of the TR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. kazanOne of the current projects was the 'Walking on the Eurasian Way' project. The applicant Cultural Routes Association (KRD) will carry out this project in partnership with the European Via Francigena Association (EAVF) in Italy and the Trace the Environment Association (TYE) in Greece. Among the participating institutions involved in the project are Via Egnatia Foundation (Netherlands), Sultans Yolu Foundation (Netherlands), Bursa Nilüfer Municipality, Izmit Municipality, Edirne Municipality and Puglia Regional Municipality in Italy. In the project, which started in April 2019 and will last for a year, partner institutions will apply for the registration of a new walking route, known as the Eurasian Road, stretching from the Italian city of Bari to the Demre district of Antalya, by the Council of Europe Cultural Routes Institute. Located in Luxemburg, this institute is a Council of Europe body authorized to register themed long-distance walking and other cultural routes as the 'European Cultural Route'. If the certification process is completed, the Eurasian Road, with its length exceeding approximately 5000 km, will be Turkey's first registered and Europe's longest international cultural route.
