Ford has announced that it has applied to add a new pick-up emoji to the list of emojis approved by the Universal Code Consortium (Unicode Consortium). Ford's new “Pick-up” emojis are short-listed by the Universal Code Consortium, which evaluates and approves emojis.

Ford, which has a pick-up production history of over 100 years, announced its newly developed pick-up emoji on 'World Emoji Day', which is celebrated every year since July 2014. According to the company statement, the new pick-up emoji is shortlisted to be included in the emoji update that will take place in early 17 after development and testing.

In the realm of emoji, approximately 3.000 approved emoji are used every day, including cars, scooters, ships, spaceships. However, there is no pick-up emoji, which has an important place in the automotive industry and trade. With a pick-up production history of over 100 years, Ford has applied to the Universal Code Consortium, which evaluates and approves new emojis to develop the world's first pick-up emojis at 2018. Ford's new “Pick-up” emoji, if approved by the Universal Code Consortium, will be available to all mobile platforms by emojisever at 2020.
