The construction of the third independent runway at Istanbul Airport, which consists of four stages and will be the largest in the world when all stages are completed, continues at full speed.
With track planned to be in service in the second half of 2020 Istanbul Airport runway operations that can be performed in the first 3 independent Europe will be the second airport in Turkey. With the start of the 3rd runway, Istanbul Airport will have 3 independent runways and 5 operational runways.
With the new runway, the landing and take-off capacity from 80 aircraft per hour will be increased to 120. Thus, airline companies will increase their slot flexibility. Due to the location of the 3rd runway close to the domestic terminal, the aircraft will have reduced taxi times by 50 percent.
