Four consortiums submitted bids for the second tender of the Light Rail System Project in Almaty, Kazakhstan. "We want to modernize and improve our transportation system based on sustainable solutions," said Yelena Yerzakovich, representative of Almaty Electrotrans at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Stockholm.

The four consortia bidding on the tender are as follows
1- Itochu Corporation, CAF and Makyol consisting of ITOCHU Corporation (Japan, Spain, Turkey)
2-ENKA (Turkey)
3-CMEC (China); CMEC China Mechanical Engineering Company, CHSR China High Speed ​​Railway Technology Ltd. CRCC China Railway Group Co., Ltd
4-I Alton Kazakhstan (France, Japan, Turkey), Marubeni Corporation, Alstom Kazakhstan, Gülermak was founded by my Meridiaan.

The winning consortium will be responsible for the detailed design and construction of the entire light rail system, including the workshop, warehouse with operational control facilities and offices.

The Almaty Light Rail System will be a 36 km line serving with 22.7 stations and a warehouse in Alatau district and will connect the main streets of Almaty. Line, Momyshuly and Tole bi streets will cross Panfilov street and Astana square and Makatayev and Zhetysuskaya streets.

In the Almaty Light Rail line, the 36 light rail vehicle will serve and transport passengers between 76.000 and 112.000 per day.
