Security of Antalya Airport is entrusted to the Domestic Radar

Cahit Turhan, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, will provide runway security at airports with the FOD radar and advanced camera systems developed locally and nationally.

Turhan said that R & D studies have been initiated for the development of FOD radar at 2014 in order to increase the flight safety level at the airports.

Within this framework, the national FOD detection system has been developed by supporting the millimeter wave radar with optical system.

Turhan said that the radar system, which was developed locally and nationally, detected foreign matter residues on the runway at the airports and sent warnings to the operator. First of all, we will instantly detect the smallest objects on the runway with the radar to be used at Antalya Airport. ”

Turhan stated that the millimeter wave radar system provides real-time representation of the location and camera image of residues and foreign objects on the runway. “The system typically includes 4 millimeter Wave Radar and 4 night / day vision optical system per runway. 7 / 24 is a system that performs continuous automatic surveillance and provides centralized control and monitoring, records statistical information and generates the necessary reports..

Stating that DHMİ has developed numerous domestic and national R & D projects in cooperation with TÜBİTAK such as National Surveillance Radar, Air Traffic Control Simulator, Bird Radar, Aircraft Tracking System in addition to FOD Radar, Turhan said that both of these projects and continued to work on sales abroad.
