Corlu on 8 July 2018 and 25 people lived in the Republic of Turkey concerning the train accident that killed Turkish State Railways (TCDD) report was prepared by the Directorate General of Internal Audit.
HürriyetAccording to the report of İsmail Saymaz from Turkey, the main seven reasons for the accident were listed as follows:
“1- The most important reason was the erosion of the filling with the ballast (layer laid on the railway) in the culvert. Due to the lack of culvert capacity, the rain accumulated and became lake, first ballast flowed, then erosion occurred and the rails were emptied. This was not noticed by the road maintenance and repair department responsible for the lines.
2- The signaling system was not activated since no breakage occurred on the rails.
3- Road maintenance repair chief was not able to raise awareness about excessive rainfall.
4- After excessive rainfall, the chief did not check on the line.
5-Line maintenance and repair, not new technology, classical methods and materials were used. In the report, it is believed that, considering climate change, it would be more appropriate to consider methods such as materials produced with new technologies, cement injection instead of soil filling.
6- The State Railways has not yet completed its transformation efforts. Coordinated the studies within itself and with the General Directorate of Meteorology to the expected level. TCDD does not have a meteorological engineer and technical unit that instantly evaluates the weather conditions.
Despite the fact that in the Annual Annual Inspection Report dated May 7, 2018, it was determined that a ballast holder wall should be built at the scene of the accident, no study was conducted.
According to the report prepared by TCDD Inspection Board Inspector Yasin Demir in terms of TCDD Tasimacilik Anonim Şirketi, the train passed the scene at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour and there was no speed violation. It was emphasized that there is no deficiency or defect in the professional competencies and duties of the machinists. It is said that the locomotive was undertaken four times in 2017 and five times in 2018, while the wagons were repaired many times in 2016 and 2017. Therefore, it was claimed that there was no defect to be attributed to the company.
