Izmir Metropolitan Municipality won 4 awards in two competitions held in Istanbul and Ankara. Awarded with the Youth Festival, Adventure Park and Izmir Sea projects, İzmir was also chosen as the “Happiest City of the Year”.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality returned with three awards from the Shining Star Awards competition, which was held for the 6th time this year. Turkey across the municipalities, public and private institutions of 16 branches in the race as the Shining Star Awards 2019 - Entertainment, in the Activities and Recreation Awards ceremony Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, this year opened for the first time 'Happy City of the Year' category won awards, Adventure Park with the project 'Star Projects', Youth It also won an award in the 'Most Successful Festival' categories.

Why Izmir?
The “Happy City of the Year” Award was given because İzmir Metropolitan Municipality created the infrastructure that will contribute to the happiness and quality of life of the city residents, it provides entertainment and activity facilities to the city, and with its versatile parks and green areas, it provides an environment for the citizens.
Youth Festival, in which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has won an award, is building a throne in the hearts of university students. Since 2017 in May organized the festival in Turkey, thousands of students from all over, İnciraltı Kent establishing camps in the forest and stays alone with nature, far away from urban stress spends days memorable participating in both sports and concert events.
Adventure Park Izmir, where Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has won the "Star Project" award, focuses on activities where sports and entertainment can be combined, appealing to groups of visitors of all ages. The park contains places where outdoor sports can be performed and activities such as mountaineering, rock climbing and zipline.
An award from architects
The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was deemed worthy of the Jury Special Award in the "TürkSMD 13th Architecture Awards" competition of the Turkish Freelance Architects Association with its "İzmirDeniz" project implemented between Mavişehir-Üçkuyular. Held every 2 years and to certify the actual quality architectural monuments in Turkey and in the competition, which aims to reward, have found their awards in 5 categories in total. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Advisor Professor at the award ceremony held in TSMD Architecture Center in Ankara. Dr. İlhan Tekeli, Deputy Head of Survey Projects Department Ertan Dikmen and Urban Design and Urban Aesthetics Branch Manager Hasibe Velibeyoğlu attended.
