Under the protocol signed between DHMİ and the Defense Industry Presidency, the construction of the second runway of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which was started in 2015 and carried out by our building inspection services organization, continues.

At the Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Istanbul's city airport, work continues on the second 3 meter long runway, built parallel to the existing runway.

Within the scope of the first stage of the second runway, the construction of the Bony Creek Tunnel, the TEM Connection Road Tunnel and the South Guild Tunnel were completed. The second runway is being constructed and the second runway and taxiway filling works are continuing.
98 percent of the first stage of Sabiha Gökçen Airport Second Runway has been completed and the second phase has reached 67 percent.

“65 MILLION PASSENGERS ARE TARGETING WITH THE SECOND RUNWAY”
At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the second runway will be put into service at the end of the year, and the existing runway will be under maintenance. With the completion of the maintenance of the existing runway, with the two runways running in parallel, the hourly landing and take-off capacity at Sabiha Gökçen Airport will increase from 40 to 80. The new terminal building, which will be opened at the end of 2020, and the two runways are put into service at the same time, and the current capacity is aimed to increase to 65 million.
In addition to the existing aircraft parking position of the airport, the 94 additional aircraft parking position will be put into service. In addition, with the second runway, the new administrative building, the main building, the apron service building, the fire station, the air traffic control building will be put into service.

“30 MILLION METERCUBE ROCK FILLING WILL BE MADE”
Within the scope of the second runway works at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 30 million cubic meters of rock filling, 2 million 750 thousand cubic meters of crushed stone filling, 1 million 650 thousand square meters of weak concrete coating, 1 million 800 thousand square meters of high quality concrete coating will be constructed.

The total length of the second runway will be 3 thousand 500 meters. Next to the second runway will be the 3 parallel taxiway, a connection taxiway, 10 high speed taxiway, 1 mid apron, 1 cargo apron and 1 engine test apron.
