"Underground monster" will dig 20 meters a day
Possible traffic, social life and infrastructure problems will be minimized on the 7,2-kilometer metro route, which will be passed through the “deep tunnel” using TBM (tunnel boring machine). 20 meters of excavation work will be carried out in Narlıdere Tunnel with machines defined as “underground monster” in the sector. Within the scope of the ongoing works, tunneling works were started by using the shaft in the Balçova region. With NATM (New Austrian Method), the region up to the first station, Balçova Station, will be connected to the existing line. In the shaft to be opened for TBM, located at the junction of Balçova Ata Caddesi, the production continues at full speed. Towards the end of the year, it is aimed to start the excavation by lowering the TBM from the shaft. At Çağdaş Station, shaft production for connection and platform tunnels to be opened with NATM method continues at full speed. Construction works have started in the areas of Contemporary Station, Fine Arts Station, Narlıdere Station, Siteler Station and shaft. Shaft productions will be initiated in other stations in the coming days and work will continue with 6 separate teams for NATM tunnels and shaft productions in total.
