Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Commuter Line Tender Canceled

TCDD has canceled the tender for the renewal of the old commuter railway line between Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme. In the cancellation of the tender, not enough competition in the tender was also effective.

Between 1955-2013 in Istanbul, the 58 year is Sirkeci-Halkalı the railway line ended with the Marmaray project. The Bosphorus, which crossed the Bosphorus and reached the surface in Kazlıçeşme, Halkalıto renew the old line to continue. The old line of the 8 kilometer between Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme remained idle.

According to the news of Mehmet Demirkaya, the tender was canceled while the result was expected to be announced. 6 August 2018 dated decision to cancel the following said:

Iptal Due to the fact that the Sirkeci Maintenance Workshop is not included in the tender dossier and that the 2 company is bidding on the tender, one of the proposals is over the cost, and therefore no competition environment has been created, it has been decided to cancel the tender by considering the public interest. “


A museum was made after the Marmaray Project at the historical Sirkeci Station in 1888. The arrangement of the remaining Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme park as a park was also discussed. During the presidency of Kadir Topbaş, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality issued a decision from the Municipal Council to take the line in question by TCDD.

According to the specifications of the TCDD's renewal tender, the location of some stations of the old line was shifted. For example, the former Kocamustafapaşa Station was approached to the hospital in Samatya and the name Sam Samatya Station Örneğin.
