The tender law of the Kanal Istanbul Project, which is included in the AKP's 100 daily action plan, is complete. Opposition parties oppose the project due to both environmental and social impacts.
The bag law, which includes the regulation on military service with payment, approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, also includes the bidding of Kanal Istanbul, one of the AKP's crazy projects, by build-operate-transfer method. The objection to Kanal Istanbul, which is also included in the 100-day action plan of the AKP government, is great. Here are the views of the opposition parties:
CHP Konya Deputy Abdüllatif Şener: It goes through the Bosphorus, who wants to reach the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean from the Black Sea. It is not something seen in the world where a channel parallel to the same route is built, it has no logic. If a technical mistake was made while opening this channel, Istanbul could be flooded. Why should ships pass through the toll channel instead of the free Bosphorus? But touristic travelers pass.
Best Party Deputy Durmuş Yılmaz: With this channel, 2 satellite cities will be built and the population will increase. While Anatolia is emptying, 30 percent of the country's population will gather here. With this money, let's establish two cities on Kızılırmak and move the industry in Istanbul to Central Anatolia and bring income to Anatolia.
GOOD Party Deputy Hayrettin Nuhoglu: Channel Istanbul will kill Marmara. There is live life in 7 percent of the Sea of Marmara. The salty waters of the Mediterranean come and accumulate at the bottom. The clean waters of the Black Sea come, go from the top, and the organic substances at the bottom combine with the clean water above, keeping the living life alive. If the channel is built, the organic load that will occur with the effect of the waters coming from the Black Sea on the lower layer will also consume the lower oxygen. Hydrogen sulfide increases rapidly and rises into the atmosphere when the southwest blows. Hydrogen sulfide is a rotten egg odor that people cannot tolerate. Due to this odor, all residential areas in the vicinity become uninhabitable. The Bosphorus ceases to be the migration route for fish.
CHP Deputy Gülizar Emecan: With the Kanal Istanbul project, the population of Istanbul will increase to 25 million. How will Istanbul deal with a population of this size?
