We Need to Evaluate Trade Potential from Geography

Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan said, “Our country is a bridge between Asia and Europe. We need to give the right to the geography we are in. We need to evaluate the trade potential from geography. ” said.

Arslan visited the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce (GTO) with the Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gul and wished success to the new administration elected at the general assembly held a while ago.

Referring to the logistics activities in Turkey Arslan, he said:

“Our country is a bridge between Asia and Europe. We need to give the right to the geography we are in. We need to evaluate the trade potential from geography. I want to give some figures, we can reach 3 billion people within 3,5-1,5 hours flight distance. The gross domestic product (GDP) reached by 1,5 billion people is $ 35 trillion. The turnover of transportation from this GDP is $ 75 billion. In order for our country, which has such an important advantage and position, to get its share from this cake, it must complete its international corridors. ”

“We broke a record in 2017, carried 28,5 million tons of cargo”

Arslan said that they established the Logistics Coordination Board as a government aware of the importance of logistics.

“The Board is doing very important works. In addition to this work, our logistics master plan for the whole country is about to be completed. ” Arslan said, sharing the following information:

"We scan all the logistics needs in Turkey and we've found them to integrate with each other, organized industrial zones according to the results accordingly will be big factories, we have started serious work to connect the railways of the main hallway. Seriously, there was a study. Turkey will do 500km link across the junction lines. We broke a record in 2017 by rail, carrying 28,5 million tons of cargo. As a result of this logistic master plan, we will double the load on the railway when we connect the junction lines. There were 7 logistics centers. It became the 8th in Erzurum to serve. We have 21 logistics centers with the planned ones. ”
