Minister Arslan Performed the Test Drive of Başkentray

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ahmet Arslan, Baskentray 16-17 April will be served to the residents of Ankara said.

In a statement he made at Eryaman YHT Station after performing the test drive in Başkentray, Arslan said that Ankara residents will start using Başkentray in the metro standard approximately one month later.

Arslan stated that the system, which is 36 kilometers from Kayaş to Sincan, will be served with 32 new sets, namely 96 wagons as of mid-April, each set has 770 people.

Expressing that Başkentray will be able to serve 520 thousand people daily, Arslan said that the total cost of the project is 1 billion 227 million liras.

Arslan, the project to start and end before the effort, but the contractors related to the procurement of the contract late due to the commencement of work due to court processes, therefore, not to fulfill the hurry to serve the nation said.

Arslan, who said that the suburban, YHT and main line trains work on the line starting from Sincan to Kayaş 3, continued as follows:

“As of today, we have increased 5 lines from Sincan to Behiçbey. We take 6 lines from Behiçbey to Ankara center, where YHT Station is located. We removed 4 lines from Ankara YHT Station to Kayaş. Our two-way suburban trains from Sincan to Kayaş will be used. The other two lines will use YHTs from Ankara to Sincan and one line will be used by our main line conventional trains. From Ankara Station to Kayaş direction, our conventional trains will also use two lines serving YHTs. We have extended the line from Ankara to Kayaş to 4 lines, from Ankara to Behiçbey to 6 lines, from Behiçbey to Sincan to 5 lines. Thus, we have made the 36-kilometer line a 156-kilometer rail system, making it much more comfortable and quality. ”

Expressing that the line takes 23 minutes from Kayaş to Sincan, Arslan stated that the Kayaş-Sincan line, which lasted more than 23 hour, will decrease to 1-48 minutes, while the stopping, picking up and getting-off time at 49 stations is taken into account. Arslan noted that the distance from Ankara to Sincan exit, which lasted 20 minutes, will decrease to 11 minutes.

Arslan stated that Eryaman YHT Station will be put into service on March 15th, and stated that both suburban and YHT passengers will be served here.

Expressing that YHTs will be able to use two lines as of March 15, while using a line today, Arslan said that as of that date, YHTs will serve in a shorter time and in a more comfortable environment.

“Ankarakart will be used in Başkentray”

Arslan pointed out that Başkentray will be integrated with the Kızılay metro in Yenişehir and the Ankaray-metro system at Kurtuluş and Maltepe stations, and noted that Ankarakart can be used in Başkentray.

Arslan stated that there will be commercial areas in Sincan, Lale, Etimesgut, Hippodrome, Yenişehir, Mamak and Kayaş stations, as well as the YHT Station in Ankara, YHT Station in Eryaman, and stated that passengers can receive such services while waiting for their trains.

The train line in suburban trains and 20-25 centimeter gap between the platform and 5 centimeter reduced the attention, Arslan, stressed that this is very important for the safety of the passengers.

Minister Arslan stated that under the Başkentray Project, 11 highway underpass, 1 highway overpass, 8 pedestrian underpass, 2 pedestrian overpass, 1 aperture tunnel were constructed with 70 apertures and they were rendered unimpeded to serve disabled people and he said he had a disabled seat in the carriage.

Arslan said that the high-speed trains will be able to use 15 lines when the Eryaman YHT Station is opened on March 2, “We will also switch to the summer schedule on high-speed trains. While running 44 high-speed train sets across the country, we will increase it to 52 sets. Thus, we will start the summer schedule as of 15. Tests on lines and works on stations are finished. Final cleanings and processes are done. As of mid-April, let's say 16-17, I hope we will offer Başkentray to the service of Ankara residents, guests coming to Ankara and our guests. ” he spoke.
