Minister Arslan Announces Latest Situation on 1915 Canakkale Bridge

Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan said, “With the participation of our President and Prime Minister, we both started to pile the piles where the bridge legs will sit and also laid the foundation in caisson concrete that will serve as the base under the bridge legs that will sit on the piles. We will do both tower and deck tests together in about 2 months. ”

Stating that both tower and deck tests will be carried out in approximately 1915 months on the 2 Çanakkale Bridge, the construction of which started in the Çanakkale Strait, Minister Arslan said, “On March 18, we started to pile the piles where the bridge legs will sit, with the participation of our President and Prime Minister. We also laid the foundation for caisson concrete that will serve as the base under the bridge legs that will sit on the piles; We are talking about a concrete block of 66 thousand tons. It's not a small number. So if you assume that each truck carries 22 tons of load, we are talking about a concrete block with a load of 3 thousand trucks. Production of these concrete blocks has started. We have done the tests of the bridge before. We did the tower test, we did the deck test. We will do both tower and deck tests together in about 2 months. Because 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is much more than other bridges; it contains a record in this world. 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will take the record after the Akashi Bridge in Japan. It will be a bridge with a foot span of 2 thousand 23 meters and a tower height of 318 meters. In this sense, it is a difficult bridge and the Dardanelles is very windy. The tests of that bridge were also very important when making a bridge in a place where there was dominant winds. Therefore, we will test the tower and deck together within 2 months. Thus, the construction will continue rapidly. ”
