Another Step in Izmir Transportation Master Plan

The final scenario and results of the “Transportation Master Plan” that will carry İzmir to 2030 were discussed at the 4th stakeholder meeting. Metropolitan Municipality officials said they attached great importance to participation while preparing the plan.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to share the results of the "Izmir Transportation Master Plan Revision", which aims at 2030, carried out within the framework of a participatory process. In this context, the 4th stakeholder meeting was also held. In the meeting, the final scenario and results of the plan, which was shaped as a result of 200 stakeholder meetings and surveys with 3 institutions and organizations, were discussed. After the finishing touches, the plan that will determine the transportation needs of İzmir targeting 2030 will be shared with the public, revealing bicycle, pedestrian, traffic arrangements and public transportation investments.

Most participatory plan
Kader Sertpoyraz, Head of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, said that they have been working in coordination and in cooperation with institutions and organizations from the first stage to the end within the scope of the "Izmir Transportation Master Plan Revision" that started on August 20, 2015. Emphasizing that the Izmir Transportation Master Plan is the most participatory of what has been done so far, Sertpoyraz said, “We have evaluated the views with precision and considered them in our study. In January, we will present our plan revision to get their opinions to the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure Investments General Directorate. ”
Boğaziçi Project Inc. Transportation Planning Group Manager Yücel Erdem Dişli shared the results of the plan with the participants. Then, the representatives of the institutions were asked about their plans.

How did the process proceed?
Within the scope of the "Izmir Metropolitan Area Urban and Near Environment Transportation Master Plan Revision", the studies of which were started as of August 20, 2015, firstly, many institutions and non-governmental organizations were contacted in the "Current Situation Analysis and Data Collection Process". general comments and suggestions were consulted. The first stakeholder meetings were held as separate sessions with institutions and organizations in target groups. The Second Stakeholder Meeting was held in the form of a single session, in which all stakeholder institutions and organizations attended, to inform and analyze the results of household surveys.

In the next stage of the accession process, with the participation of experts in their fields for the purpose of “Determining the Izmir Transportation Vision in 2030”, on bus systems, rail systems, sea transportation, intermediate public transportation systems, parking, pedestrian transportation, bicycle transportation, barrier-free access and innovative approaches in transportation 9 1 workshop and XNUMX holistic solution search meeting were held. Later, the Third Stakeholder Meeting was held and “İzmir Transportation Master Plan Alternative Scenario Studies” was shared with the participants, and opinions and suggestions were received. At the last stage, the Izmir Transportation Master Plan Final Scenario and its results were conveyed to all stakeholders.
