Train Hit the Elephants in India: A train heading towards the state of Assam in northeastern India hit the herd passing through the rails, killing five elephants. Local media reports that 100 elephants have died in the area in the past 40 days.

Reporting that five elephants died in the accident, the authorities point out that there is no speed limit for trains in the region. It is estimated that approximately 5 elephants live in Assam.

Last month, two animals were killed when the passenger train crashed into a flock of Asian elephants near the Gauhati in the northeast of the country.
