The countdown has begun for the Kanal Istanbul Project, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described as my dream. Many topics, from the possibility of changing the route in the project to environmental impacts, were brought to the agenda of the Assembly.
Minister of Transport, Ahmet Arslan, said that in the "Crazy Project", the foundation of which will be laid at the beginning of 2018, they take into account the national security issues, the safety of citizens, the safety of the ships carrying dangerous goods, and the avoidance of unjust enrichment. Stating that the route will be determined as a result of studies such as hydraulics and geophysics, Arslan Ege emphasized that the balance between Marmara and Black Sea should not be disturbed and that the migration of aquatic organisms should be examined.
Stating that they invited the consultancy firms whose competence and reliability were determined in the world to the project and consultancy service tender, Arslan said, “3 firms were invited to the tender. Qualified companies participated and Yüksel Proje Uluslararası A.Ş. He won the tender," he said. Minister Arslan said that together with engineering studies, structures such as ports and logistics integrated into the canal should be determined by expert teams and financial models should be developed for construction works.
