Ankara-Sivas YHT Line will be completed in 2019 at the latest

Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan announced that the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Line will be completed by 2019 at the latest. With the YHT line running between Ankara and Pendik extending to Haydarpaşa, the passenger departing from Sivas will arrive in Haydarpaşa in 5 hours.

Emphasizing that they are making efforts to spread the YHT, Arslan said, “We are working on the whole of Ankara, Kırıkkale, Yozgat and Sivas railway lines to expand this further, to weave the high-speed train network on the east-west, north-south axis.”

Arslan stated that they want to put YHT, which is under construction between Ankara and Sivas, into service in a short time, and we aim to finish the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Line by the end of 2018 and put it into service. Intensive work continues on the infrastructure and superstructure along the entire route. There was a missing part about the superstructure, we made the tender, we signed the contract and the work started. Hopefully, we have a goal and effort to finish at the end of 2019, he said.

Noting that the journey between YHT and Sivas-Ankara and Sivas-Istanbul will be shortened, Arslan takes approximately 7-8 hours between Ankara and Sivas. Besides, we are currently working on making electrical and signaling. So the train doesn't work in the meantime. Between YHT and Ankara-Sivas will decrease to 2 hours. YHT is currently working between Ankara and Pendik. When the part of YHT to Haydarpaşa is finished, the passenger who leaves Sivas will arrive in Haydarpaşa in 5 hours.

Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Line, which is one of the important axles of the railway corridor connecting Anatolia and Asian countries on the Anatolian and Silk Road route, will be integrated into the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Project with the Sivas-Erzincan, Erzincan-Erzurum-Kars high-speed train lines.

It is aimed to construct a new YHT line with double line, electric, signal, which conforms to speed of 603 kilometer / hour maximum with YHT project which is made instead of Ankara-Sivas railway which is the distance of 250 and will shorten the travel time between two cities.
