Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan noted that the work on the Başkentray Project is at its final stage and that they are planning to put it into service next year in January or February.
Gebze-Halkalı Expressing that they aim to complete the infrastructure works on the suburban line in August 2018, Arslan said that after the completion of the electricity and signal works in September, a test drive will be made for 3 months and the line will be put into service at the end of 2018.
Arslan stated that freight transport can be made on the said line at night, and passengers of the Ankara-Istanbul YHT line can go to Haydarpaşa Station, and that the line will serve an average of 1,5 million passengers per day.
