While China is in a process of structural transformation aimed at qualified growth, it also modernizes the transportation infrastructure of the country. The main backbone of this modernization process is the new highways and high-speed train lines.
China has built more than 800 thousand highway bridges and more than 10 km of high-speed railway bridges, state transport officials said on Sunday. Speaking at the international bridge fair in Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei Province, Zhou Wei, the chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport, said that at the end of 2016, there were 805 thousand 300 bridges across China. According to Zhou, the bridges with the longest 10 rope hooks and the longest main width in the world are located in China.
Yan Hexiang, Director of the Technology and Law Division of the National Railways Enterprise, announced that China has completed the 22 km high-speed railway line as of last year, and bridges accounted for more than 50 percent of this line length.
