Basmane Days Started

The historical Basmane district of İzmir will witness colorful cultural and artistic events for a week. “History, Culture, Art and Archeology Days of Basmane and its Environment”, organized for the purpose of protecting and promoting the cultural heritage of the region, started with an exhibition of paintings, photographs and applied works in Basmane Station.

The 5th Basmane and its Environment History, Culture, Art and Archeology Days, organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with TCDD and the Izmir Hotel Hostel and Chamber of Workers, have begun. The activities carried out in order to promote, preserve and spread the awareness of cultural assets and historical texture in the Basmane district will continue until Sunday, November 26. Basmane Days, which aims to support the talks with expert scientists, cultural people and researchers with artistic activities, aims to observe the problems related to the environment, history and urbanization on site. In addition to the photography exhibition titled “Basmane is the Guest House of Izmir” on the first day of the events, “Basmane Design Projects” exhibition of the students of the Department of Architecture of the University of Economics, “Basmane and Surrounding Design Projects” exhibition of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mihriban Yanık's The "İzmir Manuscripts" exhibition, titled "Izmir in Engravings", "Basmane Takes Its Name from Print Factories" was opened. Nuri Pınar's marbling practices and instrumental exhibition of Feridun Emre will meet with Izmir residents at Basmane Station for those who are interested throughout the week.
