300 million liras from EBRD to İzmir Metro

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will give credit for Izmir Metro

For the second part of the İzmir Metro, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided a loan of 300 million euros, which corresponds to approximately 70 million pounds.

An additional 3 km will be built between the Fahrettin Altay and the İzmir subway light rail at the distance of 6-7,2 km. Thus, the metro line, Balcova, Contemporary, Dokuz Eylul University, Fine Arts, Narlidere, Siteler, Kaymakamlık stops will be added.

The total cost of the project is 280 million euros. TL equivalent of 1,2 billion TL. With the loan of the EBRD, the total loan to be used by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is 230 million euro; 985 will be a million TL. The remaining funds will be provided from the municipality's own budget.


When the line to be taken in 2020 is completed, İzmir Metro will reach 3 kilometers between Evka-19 and Narlıdere District Governorate.
