Railway laying from China to Iran postponed

Tajikistan Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorov announced that Tehran has not allocated 1 million dollars grant money for the works of China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran Railway.

The Tajik minister reported that the railway laying works from China to Iran were delayed because of this. Tajikistan was able to receive $ 200, which is only one-fifth of the promised money for the railway operation.

Together with Iran, Russia and China, he was one of the main partners and investors of Tajikistan in the project. The Tehran government had provided the 2 million dollars to aid the construction of the Istiklal (former Anzob) tunnel and the Sangtuda-220 power plant in Tajikistan.

According to official figures, the trade between Tajikistan and Iran decreased significantly. In 2013, while the mutual trade volume between the two countries is 292 million, this figure has decreased to 114 million last year.
