The addition of Dayton, Ohio from the USA marks an important milestone for Moovit and proves to be the only app you need for transportation all over the world
Today, the world's most popular transportation app, Moovit's announcement that its 1500th city has been added, has proven to be the only application you need in 77 countries for buses, metro, ferries, cable cars, trams, minibuses and other public transport. The company reached 1,500 cities in just four years and five months. The total population of these cities is about 1,1 billion and the number of potential public transportation users is 550 million.

The State of Ohio is also home to 1.501 cities of Moovit, Athens (the original Athens added to Moovit in 2014 should not be confused with Greece). Other new cities for Moovit are located in Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, France, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the USA. Moovit adds a new city every 15 hours. Next is Gopiapo, Chile. Then Plovdiv, Bulgaria; Volta Redonda, Brazil, and Maryborough-Hervey Bay, Australia will come.
Moovit, which was selected as the best local application of Google in 2016, differs from hundreds of local transportation applications managed by bus or railway companies, municipalities or independent organizations that compile and reintroduce public transportation data. Moovit's ubiquity stems from its uniqueness in collecting transport data. The company has created the world's largest transportation data pool, combining current public transportation data, including departure times and live information, with data from over 70 million users (crowdsourced) and a strong local volunteer community of 180.000. Moovit uses this data in the app to provide everything they need, including the most accurate directions, departure times, and locations of public transit stops, for local users to reach anywhere in the city in the easiest and most convenient way by public transport. But Moovit does not only use this data to facilitate the daily transportation of its users, but also transformed this data into some valuable tools for city planners, municipalities and developers who rewrite and manage the future transportation rules.

Crowdsourcing: Moovit's Competitive Advantage
Moovit started to serve in a total of 2017 provinces in 250. More than 150 of these have been added with the contribution of the "Mooviter" community, which consists of 180.000 local volunteers who have made Moovit the Wikipedia of public transport. The Mooviters want to provide better transportation information for everyone in their cities and towns where local practices are lacking or inadequate.
By using Moovit's proprietary local Editor platform, the Moovists can in map un their transport information; they can add stops, routes, times and other information about the Moovit app. Doing so significantly improves the transportation experience for everyone in the city, and actually makes local heroes who help everyone in their cities.
Examples of some cities "mapped" by the Mooviters:
Turkey: In May 2017, 90% vision impaired Fatih Aktas, wanted to bring Moovit of Balıkesir. He applied to the municipality to share public transport information. Later, Fatih asked his 20 friends to help them map bus line routes and add the hours to Moovit. Moovit Turkey manager Fatih Mapathon Ryan Yürgün from all the city's transportation information consisting of 1 bus lines within 60 week to participate in the marathon was added to Moovit. Fatih and his friends continue to update the city's information, and Fatih wants to join Moovit's accessibility test groups for new features that help disabled people.
In recent days, in addition to Moovit Community Ambassadors from Balıkesir Eker, Turkey Cihangir help with 16. Mersin was added to the application as a city.
USA: Those living in Knoxville, Tennessee did not have an application to get directions until May 2015. Joseph Linzer, who lives here, mapped all the city bus stops - 1243 stops - in Moovit. As Joseph regularly updated his city, he also helped bring Moovit to the neighboring city of Clarksville, which was not previously available in any public transport application.
Brazil: Joao Pessoa, with a population of about one million, was the first city added by the Mooviter Community in 2014. Local community member Vitor Rodrigo Dias mapped 3,249 bus stops in less than two months. Vitor later became one of Moovit's first Mooviter Ambassadors and led the mapping projects in Brazil.
Thanks to the Mooviter program, there are more than 2000 cities to be added during the wait, and a new city is added every 15 hours.
