It has been learned that the General Labor Union affiliated to DİSK will perform a "contact closure action" on ESHOT buses between 3 and 06.00 tomorrow (08.00 August Thursday), and that other units of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will "quit half-day work".
Although no notification was made by the union to our municipality or its affiliated institutions for this decision, it was beneficial to share this development with the public in order for our citizens not to be victimized.
Such actions are considered as “illegal strikes” in accordance with the Law No. 6356 on Trade Unions and Collective Bargaining. Necessary legal actions will be taken against the personnel who are not at work tomorrow and cause disruption in the transportation service we offer to our citizens.
On the other hand, our Municipality has made the necessary preparations in order to minimize the possible negativities caused by the "contact closure" action.
Within the scope of the measures taken, İZBAN, İzmir Metro and tram services will be increased, taking into account the density that may occur in rail systems. Capacity will be supported with intermediate trains in İZBAN, and a 5-minute trip frequency will be applied with sets of 3,5 in the metro. Thus, the Izmir Metro, which has been in service for 18 years, is planned to reach the highest capacity in terms of voyage frequency.
Karşıyaka Among the measures to be taken are to make a trip on the tram every 7,5 minutes, to put the Ataşehir stop into operation, and to connect the tram to the İZBAN Mavişehir Station. In this context, it will be provided to run a ring bus between the last stop of the tram and Mavişehir Station.
