Eurasia Tunnel qualified for LEED Gold Certificate

Eurasia Tunnel, which connects Asia and Europe with the two-story highway tunnel passing under the sea floor for the first time, provides fast, economic, safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation services between the two continents. The Operation and Maintenance Building of the American Green Buildings Council has been awarded LEED Gold Certificate.

LEED, granted to energy and environmentally friendly structures, is considered the most prestigious green building certificate in the world.

With its advanced technology and advanced engineering product holistic project, as well as being an example of environmental sensitivity, the Eurasia Tunnel added a respectable environmental certificate to the awards and documents it has received. The Eurasia Tunnel Operation and Maintenance Building has received the Leed Gold Certificate granted to sustainable energy and eco-friendly structures worldwide.

Successfully exceeded challenging criteria

The green building certification created by the USGBC (American Green Building Council) is known as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), the world's most prestigious green building certification.

'Sustainable Land', 'Water Efficiency', 'Energy and Atmosphere', 'Materials and Resources', 'Location and Transportation', 'Interior Quality', 'Innovation', 'Regional Priority Loans' are being evaluated for the LEED certificate .

Innovative, innovative project

Eurasia Tunnel, which reduces intercontinental journey between Asia and Europe to 5 minutes, stands out with its environmentally friendly features, which are exemplary in international standards with an environmentally friendly approach to the environment, society and the city. An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process in line with international standards for the Eurasian Tunnel was implemented and an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) was prepared. All mitigation measures developed during the ESIA process were defined and implementation methods were introduced during the final design, construction and operation phases. However, within the scope of LEED standards, the system and applications that provide water and electricity efficiency are used and the Eurasia Tunnel Operation and Maintenance Building is also benefited from the natural lighting at maximum level. In addition, the LEED Gold Certified building was especially featured in the environmentally friendly applications such as bicycle park, electric vehicle unit and heat-saving glass. With its environmental and social studies, the Eurasia Tunnel Project was previously awarded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the 'Best Environmental and Social Practice' award.
