Bombardier and Austrian Federal Railways Sign Agreement for 300 TALENT 3 Train: Technology leader of rail systems Bombardier Transportation and Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) have signed a framework agreement covering 300 units of BOMBARDIER TALENT 3 trains. A list price of about 1.8 billion Euros (1.9 billion USD) was determined as the total cost of the agreement. In this way, ÖBB has had the opportunity to make many tenders for trains used in public transportation services in regional and suburban railways.
The first order under the framework agreement was signed for the 21 TALENT 3 train and a budget of about 150 million (156 million US dollars) was set. These new trains to be used for regional transport will be delivered in 2019. These trains are aimed at strengthening the link between rural and urban areas in the Vorarlbeg region and neighboring countries, as it increases the local public transport capacity in daily passenger transport services.
“This framework agreement represents a huge success for Bombardier. The ÖBB is one of the most recognized and punctual railways in Europe. TALENT preferred the 3 train and had a product with high acceleration and reliability that would enable them to maintain the same timeliness in the geographically challenging regions. T
The new generation of TALENT 3 offers a great reduction in modern operating flexibility, low energy consumption and total operating costs. The TALENT 3, which has the widest body in its class, offers up to 50 more seat capacity compared to the previous generation and allows for faster passenger change while increasing travel comfort. The TALENT 1.400 trains are now available in Europe and Canada. Of these, the 187 vehicle is used in Austria under the ÖBB operation.
Bombardier Transportation, which has the widest product portfolio in the industry, is used for tramway vehicles in major cities such as Linz, Innsbruck and Graz; It has a strong and growing cooperation in Austria. Bombardier Transportation is working with 6 employees in Austria.
