In his speech at the meeting, OKA Term President Governor İbrahim ŞAHİN said, “Distinguished Members of our Board of Directors and Distinguished Press Members; In our region consisting of Amasya, Çorum, Samsun and Tokat provinces, the Development Agency, which conducts various studies in order to ensure the development of our region and to maintain this development, by developing cooperation between our public institutions, local administrations, universities, non-governmental organizations, private sector and other social / economic actors. We have convened to hold the “Board of Directors' meeting of February, and to discuss the issues on the agenda of the board. We are in a process in which future risks and uncertainties in the global economy continue, changes and transformations are experienced in the world economy, new balances are formed, and power balances between developed and developing countries are reshaped. As a country, our adaptation to this process, our being one of the main actors depends on the development and hard work of institutions and individuals at all levels. With this point of view, we expect our agency to be more effective by improving its institutional capacity and range of activities in 2017 and the following years. In this new period, I would like to emphasize a few points about the priorities of OKA and the work to be done. Developing competitiveness should be a priority area of work. It will be appropriate to carry out studies for SMEs in our region and agency personnel to adapt to the developing and changing conditions of the day and develop their competitive structures.

Construction and service procurement components are continuing within the scope of Samsun Logistics Center Project, which is carried out under the roof of Samsun Governorship, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry and under the roof of the Agency and the grant budget of 43 million Euros, and the procurement of goods is about to be finalized. This center is a social and administrative building, a commission office, fire brigade, service stations, loading-unloading systems, gas station, two vehicle measurement building, two security buildings, roads, automobiles and trucks. areas and railways. The total area is about 670 bin m2. Thanks to this investment, which will make an important contribution to the development of the foreign trade of not only Samsun but also the Amasya, Çorum and Tokat provinces, hundreds of thousands of young people will be employed in the logistics sector. Industrial infrastructure needs to be developed in our region. We need to actively participate in the Competitive Sectors Program process conducted under the coordination of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. Our Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Craftsmen Chambers, other professional organizations and businessman associations, especially in our region, 10 million Euros and over budget, "major projects" is a must to pursue.

In this context, reduction of foreign trade deficit, technology transfer and commercialization of technology, development of "Innovative and High Value Added Sectors" such as healthcare industry, logistics, communication and information technologies, aviation sector, improvement of human development indicators of our region, protection of the environment and sustainable use of resources. It will be beneficial to conduct studies within the framework of a holistic development approach that includes elements. On the other hand, we believe that the tourism sector will make important contributions to the development of our region. There are 15 works from our country on the permanent list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. One of them is Hattusha, the capital of the Hittite Empire in Çorum. In addition, applications for UNESCO Cultural Heritage were made for Samsun Kızılırmak Delta and Bird Paradise and Harsena King Tombs in Amasya and both assets were included in the temporary lists. From now on, the work and procedures that need to be done are completed quickly, and the fact that these two values are included in the permanent list and registered as world heritage will contribute to the development and protection of our region's tourism. Speaking of tourism, efforts to develop international connections that will utilize the tourism potential in our region should be addressed separately. Providing tourists from the Middle East and North African countries known as the MENA region to come to our region is an area of activity in this context. The OKA Stand, which was opened at the Jeddah Tourism and Travel Fair in the past weeks, should also be opened at Riyadh and Dubai Fairs, and efforts to promote our region better in the Gulf countries and the Middle East markets by participating more tourism agencies, hospitals and hotel owners in these fairs.

As it is known, the duty of the chairman of the board of directors in our agency is carried out in alphabetical order and one year by the Governors of our province 4 in our region. I would like to extend my gratitude to Çorum Valimizi, who has been serving as the chairman of the board throughout 2016, and also to all the other members of the Board of Directors and the representatives of all the institutions and organizations working in the Development Board and the agency staff, and all those who have contributed successfully to the works carried out so far.
