The Metro Project works planned by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Gebze-Darıca region are carried out by the Contractor firm Ove Arup Partners Internatıonal Ltd. & Arup Müh. And Müş. Ltd. Şti. run by a joint venture. Within the scope of the project, a presentation was made by Tunnel Specialist Michele Mangione, who came from the London office of the relevant company, with the participation of Deputy Secretary General Mustafa Altay, Advisor to the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Adnan Bilgiç, Head of the Transportation Department Ayşegül Yalçınkaya, Rail Systems Branch Manager Fatih Gürel and the technical staff of the Transportation Department.
CONSTRUCTION METHODS
In the meeting, a general presentation including project and tunnel design requirements, TBM (Tunnel Boring Machines) and traditional excavation (NATM) tunnel construction methods were made. Plans to be made at the project stage for the construction of the Tunnel Line of Gebze-Darica Metro, preparations to be made before construction and problems that may be encountered during construction and solutions were discussed.
FINAL PROJECT IN THE END OF THE YEAR
The preliminary projects of the Gebze-Darica Metro Line, which starts at the coast of Darica and extends to the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, which will consist of 15 and 12 stations, have reached the stage of completion. The final projects of the project are planned to be completed at the end of 2017.
STARTING IN 2018
The feasibility studies of the line were completed and approved by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM). Gebze and Darica urban centers, hospitals, public institutions, educational institutions, OIZs, maritime transport and Marmaray line will be integrated to the stations planned for the construction phase of the Gebze-Darica Metro Line is planned to start in 2018.
