Metro deal between Tunisia and South Korea: An agreement worth 1 billion euros was signed between Tunisia and South Korea in the field of public rail transport.

"We have signed an agreement with South Korea's Hyundai company on the purchase of 165 electric wagons of 28m euros," Tunisian Transport Minister Enis Gadira said in a press release. said.

Stating that the total cost of the project will exceed 1 billion euros, Gadira said, “A fast metro line will be established in Tunisia under the financing of European banks. The project will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the German Development Bank (KFW). ” he spoke.

Stating that the first phase of the project will be opened in October 2018 and the whole will be opened in 2021, Gadira said that 600 thousand passengers per day will be transported on the metro line.

Stating that 40 percent of the investments in Tunisia are allocated to transportation, Gadira pointed out that the project in question is currently the largest project in the country.
