Bafra Railway
Prof. Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz said, “It starts from Bafra district center and extends to the north of today's 19 Mayıs district, to the Kumcak pier located on the sea shore of the former Engiz District. The other name of this 27 km long route is' Bafra - Engiz Dekovil Line. Bafra -Engiz Dekovil Line is one of the most important private enterprise investments built in Samsun in the first years of the Republic.

The origin story of the Bafra - Engiz Railway begins in 1929, when the foundation of a sawmill was laid on the banks of the Kızılırmak river in today's Fatih District in the western part of Bafra city center. The owner of the factory that day's conditions in Turkey's leading contractors' construction Eskişehir Republic is the owner of businessman Emin Sazak. The construction is completed in two years and the factory goes into production. In those years, since there were no highways yet, there was no alternative other than maritime transport for the delivery of finished products to domestic and foreign markets. For this, the closest and most suitable pier is Kumcak. Thus, the construction of a railway (Dekovil) line between Bafra and Kumcak Pier comes to the fore. Attempts are made for this, and the government is requested and the government agrees. The Dekovil line was built in order to deliver the products produced at the Bafra Lumber Factory to domestic and foreign markets by establishing a sea route. Because Bafra Lumber Factory consists of not a single unit, but a large system starting from Kunduz Forests and ending at Kumcak Pier in Engiz ”.

How was the finished product manufactured in the factory exported?
Yılmaz continued: a The products produced at the factory were transported to the Kumcağız Pier with the decovil line and then sent to the domestic and foreign markets by ships. The highways in Turkey until their transfer to the cargo and goods xnumx'l the year that began to develop in various ways and methods have been tried. Although mainly human and animal power is used, sometimes the nature of the opportunities is not neglected and these are also evaluated. One of them is the transfer of logs from forests to forests where they are needed by using water power. About 1950 is the part of one of the most beautiful examples of this activity which took place on the pages of history and took place between the Vezirköprü and Bafra districts in Samsun. Transfer of timber cuts from Kösedağ and Kunduz Forests between Vezirköprü, Sinop's Boyabat and Osmancık districts of Sinop to Bafra which is operating in Bafra through castings or rafts in Kızılırmak. It is discussed.
