Island Train Signature Campaign in Adapazari Station Continues

Adapazari Station Island Campaign Signature Campaign Continues: The Devam Island Train eni signature campaign launched in Sakarya last week continues.

Sakarya Civil Society Platform (SASTOP) members, NGO representatives and citizens started a petition by making a statement at Adapazarı Train Station last week for the Adapazarı-Istanbul Express to depart from Adapazarı Station. The petition that took place continues in its second week. Speaking in the signature campaign, Turkish Transportation You Sakarya Branch President Ömür Kalkan said, “The Ada Express, which started service in 1891 and became the symbol of my city, was terminated in 2012 due to the high-speed train line works. Ada Express, which resumed its voyages last year, started to make 3 mutual trips from Arifiye station to Pendik station. Prior period in Adapazari Express departing from the Island Station, with 130 percent occupancy rate based on the information provided by TCDD officials are stated to be one of Turkey's most popular operating line. It is clearly understood from the very low occupancy rate that the Ada Express has met much lower than expected demand after it starts to depart from Arifiye station. As Sakarya lovers, we want our Ada Express and Adapazarı Station back, which are important in many aspects, especially in history, economy and culture. "We demand Adapazarı Station and Ada Express to be activated immediately, just like the train stations serving in the center of all modern cities."

It was stated that 3 thousand votes have been collected in the petition campaign, which will stay in Adapazarı Railway Station for 7 months.
