75 Million Credits Are Drawn for Extension of Tram Line to OMU: Samsun Metropolitan Municipality will use 11 million TL loan from Iller Bank for the extension of the light rail system line to Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) and purchase of 75 trains.

The 2016st Session of the 22nd Unification of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Commission in December 1 was held under the chairmanship of Turan Çakır, 1st Deputy Chairman of the Assembly. The issue of extending the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality light rail system urban public transportation route, which is one of the agenda items, from the OMÜ Station to the University Kurupelit Campus Life Center and the use of 11 million TL loan from Iller Bank for the purchase of 75 trains.

Speaking before the voting, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Council Vice President Turan Çakır said, “Within the framework of the protocol we have made with the university administration, our tram will go to the 1-kilometer university. We will start the construction of this soon. Therefore, we need train wagons in order for this line to work and not to extend the time intervals too much. Therefore, we have a loan request from Iller Bank, which is also on our agenda, with a total amount of 6.5 million TL ”.

Following Çakır's speech, the relevant agenda item was unanimously accepted and sent to the parliament.
