Approval to Israel's tram project linking West Bank to Jerusalem: Israeli Transport Minister Katz reportedly approved the tram line project that will connect Jewish settlements in the West Bank to Jerusalem
Israeli Transport Minister Yisrael Katz reportedly approved the tram line project that will connect Jewish settlements in the West Bank to Jerusalem.
According to the news of Channel 2 television broadcasting in Israel, Transport Minister Katz stated in a press release that a tram line will pass through East Jerusalem to connect Jewish settlements in the West Bank to Jerusalem.
Stating that he sees Jerusalem as a single piece, Katz drew attention to the great Jerusalem project based on the unification of Jerusalem with the settlements behind the Green Line (in the West Bank).
Katz said that the project aims to provide equal access to Israelis outside and within the Green Line.
According to the report of Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Israeli Transport Minister Katz gave instructions yesterday to extend the metro line in Tel Aviv to the area where Burak Wall is located in the west of Masjid Al-Aqsa in East Jerusalem. It was stated in the news that “the project, which is planned to be built as 56 kilometers long, will provide direct access to the West Wall for tourists, students and citizens”.
The UNESCO Executive Board condemned Israel's decision to install a cable car for transportation to the Wall of Burak in East Jerusalem, about two weeks ago.
