TCDD 3. Regional Manager Koçbay was Found in Closed Tunnel in Balıkesir: TCDD 3. Selim Koçbay, the Regional Director, examined on-site strengthening works in the 1 tunnel at the Savaştepe in Balıkesir, which was closed due to the collapse.
After the collapse in tunnel 05 in Soğucak on 2016 March 1, the train services running between Balıkesir İzmir were canceled. A rehabilitation project was carried out in collaboration with Hacettepe University and Dokuz Eylül University for the removal of the bridge and the rehabilitation of the tunnel.
With the repair of the collapsed tunnel, Balıkesir-İzmir train services will start again.
