BTS, TCDD does not work against accidents

BTS is not doing the necessary work against TCDD accidents: BTS criticized TCDD in a statement regarding the accident in Sivas Demirdağ where a freight train and maneuver train collided and 4 machinists were injured.
Unions Transport Employees Union (BTS) in Sivas Demirdağ, the freight train and the maneuvering train collided, and the 4 mechanic was injured in an accident.
The United Transport Workers Union (BTS) made a written statement about the collision between the freight train carrying iron ore from Divrigi to Iskenderun and the maneuvering train. In the statement that 4 machinists who were slightly injured as a result of the collision were treated in Divriği State Hospital, the statement stated that the lack of minor injuries and loss of life was the only solace, and accidents have increased everywhere in the network where privatization works have been carried out under the name of restructuring in recent years. In this statement, where the traffic was more intense compared to other regions due to mine transportation, it was noted in the past that similar accidents were experienced in the past. Train maneuvers with incomplete personnel on the grounds of shorter duration of mechanic training and shortage of personnel are the first reasons that come to mind that invite flexible accidents. Basically, what causes accidents is restructuring and privatization practices. With these practices, fatal accidents in railways have increased. It is an easy approach to attribute the responsibility of these accidents to personnel error. ” Despite the increase in the accidents and continuity, the statement stated that TCDD management did not do the necessary work to eliminate these accidents and it was emphasized that the traffic weaknesses and lack of personnel that arise with the correction of working conditions and privatization practices should be resolved as soon as possible.
