Within the scope of the Eurasia Bosphorus tube passage project, breakwaters, which are the continuation of the Roman-era Theodosius port, were unearthed during the connection road works in Yenikapı Square.

Experts attribute the soundness of the breakwaters located at a depth of about 5 meters under the sea to the fact that the soil structure in Yenikapı is an area without loam and oxygen. Wood knitting belonging to the historical harbor has never been encountered in the world until now. Experts stated that it was impossible for these knits to come out solid. The historical wealth of Istanbul broke another routine in the world of Archeology. The construction technique, which is known theoretically in the world but has not been encountered before, is of the nature to sit on the agenda of the scientific world. With the discovery made, the method used for the construction of the breakwaters of the historical Theodosius harbor has also come to light. It is estimated that wooden knitting was made with the construction technique called 'cofferdam technique' applied two thousand years ago. These wooden braids belonging to the first construction phase of the breakwater are candidates to enter the firsts of the history of archeology.
