12 enjoy the sea after years

12 year after sea enjoyment: Uskudar Square, which was closed with screens due to Marmaray and metro constructions, saw the sea after 12 year
The first digging for transportation projects, one of Turkey's most important construction of the Marmaray was shot in 2004. Excavations were initiated in Üsküdar and Yenikapı squares within the scope of the work for the Marmaray project. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic was restricted in Üsküdar Square, which is surrounded by screens. The project, which was planned to be completed in 3 years, was stopped after a while due to archaeological excavations. The project, which had been waiting for 6 years, remained as it was when the foundation was laid. The Marmaray project, which was accelerated again in 2010, was put into service in 2013. However, this time, work has started in the square for the Üsküdar-Çekmeköy metro line. The screens could not be removed due to the subway works that continued for 3 years. Üsküdar's historical mosque, fountains and plane trees, the square, which has been engraved in memory, showed itself in the past 12 years. With the completion of the subway works, the screens were removed. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic has been reorganized. Traffic has been relaxed with the new road arrangement for vehicles.
