New solution for single-sided brakes for freight wagons from Federal-Mogul Motorparts

The Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML), introduced the new Jurid® K-block friction material for rail freight wagons from Federal-Mogul Motorparts.
Jurid 816, an improved version of the proven Jurid822M product, offers K-block solutions to the state-of-the-art single-sided 1xBgu brake wagons. The use of extended contact surface and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques also reduces wheel and block wear rates by up to 15 based on competing solutions. The new K-block is currently undergoing extensive testing at the new InnoWaggon of Rail Cargo Group, a member of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).
Martin Hendricks, Head of Global Brake at Federal-Mogul Motorparts and EMEA Regional Chair: ve Federal-Mogul's close working relationship with freight car manufacturers, freight wagon operators and fleet operators, and vast market knowledge provide a broad and clear vision of the needs of the railway industry . Our partnership with brake system manufacturers and their suppliers allows us to better understand the entire picture. We offer solutions to meet all the friction needs from the first concept and development step to commercialization. İlk
Jurid 822 complies with the latest EU legislation (UIC, TSI WAG, TSI NOISE) that restricts the use of sound, performance and cast iron blocks. The existing JURID K-block technology was limited to double-sided brake applications. In contrast, the Jurid 822 and Federal-Mogul Motorparts offer a solution that enables the use of single-sided 1xBgu brake wagons in Europe. In the next two years, the new wagon will be launched in Europe annually with the 6 bin to 8 bin unilateral brake system. Jurid 822 offers cargo operators the opportunity to increase their efficiency and reduce operational costs when using these tools.
The first tests by Federal-Mogul Motorparts show that Jurid 822 has a longer service life than competitors' products, while reducing the amount of wheel wear to 15 without sacrificing performance. Considering that the blades are the most expensive consumables for the maintenance of freight wagons, reducing the amount of wear significantly affects the overall life time of the vehicle.

Gernot Kasper, Director of Global Rail and Industry at the Federal-Mogul Motorparts: H After extensive research and development activities within ourselves, the Jurid team renewed the contact surface of the block with the block to improve performance, reduce NVH levels and increase usage time. During the extensive tests carried out in a controlled dynamometer environment, Jurid 822 has achieved improved performance results compared to its competitors. Compared to Jurid 816M, the total weight of the 822 was also reduced so as not to affect its durability, thus improving marginal gains in all technical areas. In addition to being a leading product in the market, it also provides a vital solution to the cargo industry. Pazar
In 822, Jurid 2015 has been tested on UIC 541-4 standards, including in-service fleet trials at the new Rail Cargo Group's InnoWagon. These tests include the difficult journeys between the Pernhofen-Wulzeshofen and Liezen and with the high load on the Alpine route known as the Semmering Pass (altitude thousand meters). The friction blocks and the wheels are continuously measured at the wear angle and the data on the wheel geometry is collected to determine the overall friction performance of the material. Jurid 822 is expected to be available in 2017 after receiving all approvals.
Federal-Mogul Motorparts will showcase its portfolio of rail brakes at the 20 booth at Hall 23 at InnoTrans, Berlin, from September 2016 to 1.2-215.
