The road widening work carried out by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between Vahap Özaltay Square and Alsancak Station made the traffic breathe. When the section of the road that falls into a single lane was expanded by 2,5 meters to two lanes, the traffic flow in the region was significantly relaxed.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has solved the congestion in Alsancak, one of the most problematic regions in terms of traffic. The road widening work carried out in the section between Alsancak Station and Vahap Özaltay Square on Atatürk Street helped to eliminate the congestion in the region. With the retraction of the wall belonging to TCDD, the road was widened from one lane to two lanes.
What was done?
With the work done by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, 100 meters of the Alsancak Station wall was demolished and taken back. With this work carried out on the part that falls into a single lane due to a double lane wall on the way from Konak to Alsancak, double lanes have been preserved along the entire Atatürk Avenue. In the 100-meter section of the 50-meter total arrangement area, the road was expanded by 2.5 meters to double lanes. With the protocol signed with TCDD in 2000, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has paid 249 thousand TL rent for the part of Atatürk Street between Sait Altınordu and Vahap Özaltay Square. Within the framework of the new road expansion work to be carried out on the street in question, the Metropolitan Municipality, which signed a second lease protocol for areas not covered by the protocol, will pay 55 thousand TL annually.
