90% of the financing of the railway line, which will connect Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and South Sudan, is covered by Chinese banks.

A significant part of the railway line will be built on the territory of Kenya. With the project, the journey to Kenya's capital city Nairobi and Mombasa, the city on the Indian Ocean coast, will be reduced from 12 hours to 4 hours.

It is stated that 75 percent of the railway line between Nairobi and Mombasa is completed. Trains running on this railway line will be able to speed up to 120 kilometers per hour.
