The meeting held at the TCDD Cultural Complex in Alsancak was attended by TCDD 3rd Region Manager Murat Bakır, TCDD 3rd Region Safety Management System (EYS) Director Ergün Yurtçu and EYS Specialist Ayhan Dikmen, members of non-governmental organizations and union representatives serving in the railway sector. Özden Polat, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Railway Construction and Operating Staff Solidarity and Assistance Association (YOLDER), and the 3rd Regional Coordinator Şakir Kaya were represented at the meeting.

Stating that the security issue comes to the fore with the increase in transportation speed, TCDD 3. Regional Manager Murat Bakır stated that they aim to organize a workshop in İzmir on the Railway Safety Regulation prepared by the General Directorate of Railway Regulation. Bakır said, “The Level Crossing Panel, which we recently organized and attracted great attention from the stakeholders of the subject, attracted great attention. As a result of the results, there were a lot of institutions that said 'If we also participated in this panel'. For this reason, we aim to hold a panel / workshop on 'Safety on the Railroad through the Eyes of the Employees' ”.

Murat Bakır said that they wanted to organize workshops / panels to get the opinions of the non-governmental organizations and unions in which the workers in the railway sector are members before the panel they plan to realize. Bakır said, “The opinions you will convey will be delivered directly to the authority. Every problem you identify and every suggestion for the solution of the problem will be taken into consideration and evaluated. For this reason, we want you to attend the workshop / panel with our presentations or files containing your suggestions. ”

Support requests are important
Stating that the number of actors in the sector will increase after the law on the Liberalization of Railways, YOLDER President Özden Polat said, "The developments require a systematic and feasible safety system." Polat said, “We think the most striking aspect of the law on the Liberalization of Railways is the emergence of the General Directorate of Railway Regulation as an authority. One of the regulations made by this general directorate is that there is an authority on certification issues. ”

Özden Polat pointed out that the panel to be held in the region is a very important step for IMS and said, “We are very pleased with the approach of the 3rd Region IMS Directorate to the governance phenomenon. Both information and support requests are an important indicator of their approach to the issue seriously. As YOLDER, we will support as much as we can and we will tell our members about it. ”
