Ski resorts are on the verge of bankruptcy. Half Çankırı Ski Coaches Association President, said that the level of profit should be made unavailable for skiing in the ski centers in Turkey.
Gazi University School of Physical Education and Sports Faculty Member and Çankırı Ski Trainers Association President Assoc. Dr. İmdat Half stated that, among the ski centers, the most snow is currently in Kartalkaya, Konaklı and Palandöken, but this is not enough for skiing. He said that the ski centers have reached 3 percent occupancy for 100 nights for New Year's Eve and the facilities must have artificial snow machines.
Half, AA correspondent, said the end of December is nearing the end of the ski resort is still longing, he said.
Expressing that ski lovers and hotel operators in ski centers expect the season to open as soon as possible, Yarım said, “Hotels have completed their preparations. All work was done according to the season expected to open at the beginning of December. Ski lovers want to do the winter sport they have been waiting for a long time, but unfortunately the expected snow has not come, ”he said.
İmdat Half, stating that there was a similar problem two years ago, drew attention to the fact that the ski centers had a good season last year. Half said, “There was a bad period in the 2013-2014 season. The rate of profit in the centers was very low. The little snow had upset both the operators and ski lovers. This season, it seems that there will be a problem that happened two years ago. Currently, the most snow is in Kartalkaya, Konaklı and Palandöken among ski centers, but this is not enough for skiing, ”he said.
Artificial dimming system
Half of the European countries, despite the lack of snow in the skies of the season, indicating that they open the season, in the countries in question is insufficient in the snow, but with artificial snowing system said they can ski.
Underlining that hotels in Europe offer runway guaranteed sales, İmdat Half said, “Currently, there is no snow in Europe, but they can slide on the tracks. While businesses sell vacation to their customers, they make runway guaranteed sales. There is no possibility of 'no snow' anymore. Even if it does not snow, there is always snow on the track with artificial snow. Plants are built with large amounts of money spent, but they are kept idle due to the lack of snow. For example, you build a chair lift for 12 million liras, you buy snowtracks for 1 million liras, you build hotels. Besides, you are building many things. Despite the million-dollar investments, when there is no snow, all of them remain idle.
Stating that there is only one solution to this situation and that success in winter tourism without artificial snow is now a dream, Yarım said, “New Year is a short time. Ski lovers want to come to the centers and do their sports, but there is no snow. Many ski centers such as Yıldıztepe Ski Center have reached 3 percent occupancy for 100 nights for New Year's Eve, but unfortunately there is no snow in the centers. The solution for this is in artificial snow machines. Artificial snow machines must now be present at the facilities. Thus, we can avoid this problem ”.
On the other hand, among the ski centers, the snow depth is at most 45 centimeters in Kartalkaya and Konaklı. Palandöken with 40 centimeters, Ilgaz with 20 centimeters, Yıldıztepe with 10 centimeters, Sarıkamış with 9 centimeters and Erciyes Ski Center with 8 centimeters follow these centers.
Snow has not yet been measured in Elmadağ, Davraz, Kartepe, Ladik and Uludağ.
