Alstom to produce electric locomotive for railways in India

Alstom will produce electric locomotive for railways in India: French engineering firm Alstom 200 has won the procurement of 3 electric locomotive projects of Indian railways amounting to around Rupees ($ 800 billion). It is also establishing a local production facility.

It is stated that India is the biggest commitment of a foreign company since last year, when a limited portion of state-owned railways opened up 100 for foreign direct investment, and it is seen as an effort of the state to modernize the huge but obsolete railway network.

The US company, General Electric, announced on Monday that it has made a commitment to India to provide 11 billion diesel diesel for the coming 2.6 year.
