Parking is set up for metro wagons in Izmir

A parking lot is being built for metro wagons in Izmir: 11 companies submitted bids for the construction tender held by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which is preparing for the construction of an underground car park for the storage and maintenance of metro wagons. The facility to be established in Halkapınar will have a capacity of 115 wagons.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, on the one hand supplies vehicles to the metro system, which will be expanded with the lines of Evka 3 - Bornova Center, Buca and Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere Engineering School, on the other hand accelerated the efforts to establish new facilities for the storage and maintenance of these vehicles. Metropolitan Municipality, which started the production of 85 train sets with 17 wagons to be used in the expanding metro network, made a tender to establish the underground facilities where the vehicles will be stored.

115 wagon capacity

With the fast, reliable and comfortable travel service offered, the underground facility to be installed in Halkapınar for the maintenance and storage of the expanding fleet in İzmir Metro, which is the indispensable public transportation vehicle of İzmir, will be equipped with 115 wagon capacity. The facilities will be constructed in front of Atatürk Stadium, starting from Şehitler Street and extending to Osman Ünlü Junction and Halkapınar metro warehouse area.

What's going on at the facility?

A ventilation system consisting of jet fans and axial fans will be created in order to ventilate the environment and to evacuate the smoke that occurs in the event of a fire in the underground maintenance and storage facilities that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will build on two floors on a total area of ​​15 thousand square meters. Compressed air system will be installed to perform vehicle and parts maintenance in the section where periodic maintenance will be made, where the raised lines are located. An automatic train washing system will be built outside the facility, which will allow the vehicles to be washed in motion. In the periodic maintenance unit, a mobile roof working platform will be created on rails that can move parallel to the roofs of the vehicles. In accordance with national fire regulations, indoor water fire extinguishing system (cabinet system), sprinkler (fire sprinkler) system and fire brigade filling mouth will be made.
