Three-storey tunnel project tender is coming soon: Transport, Maritime and Communications Minister Feridun Bilgin said that the 3-storey tunnel planned to be built in the Bosphorus will be the first in the world in terms of size and scope.
Bilgin said that in order to tender the project within the framework of the BOT model, the issue was examined with the relevant institutions at the High Planning Council (YPK) before the Ministry of Development. Minister Bilgin noted that the decision of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, UKOME and the council was taken for the project route. Stating that the zoning plan revisions were made and processed in the master development plan of Istanbul, Bilgin stated that the decision was made that the EIA was not required and the tender file was mostly completed.

Bilgin also noted that for the project to be tendered within the framework of the BOT model, the issue was examined with the relevant institutions at the High Planning Council (YPK) before the Ministry of Development. Minister Bilgin pointed out that the project will contain both road and rail at the same time in a single tube, and stated that the tunnel will be the first in the world with its size and scope. Informing that the Izmit Bay Bridge will be completed and put into service in March 2016, Bilgin gave the good news that "We will put the Eurasia Tunnel into service of Istanbulites at the end of 2016". Bilgin noted that the first stage of the launch of the Türksat 4B satellite, which was launched the other day, into orbit, was successfully completed.
Bosphorus drilling operations to begin
Minister Bilgin stated that the drilling works in the Bosphorus, which will be needed by the contractors who will seek the construction of the three-storey tunnel project, will start in a short time, and that the tender procedures will be started soon after the drilling values are taken and the decisions are made. Stating that the drilling process of the Eurasia Tunnel was completed last month, Bilgin informed that work on the connection roads was carried out.
