Georgian Foreign Minister Kvirikashvili is committed to accomplish BTK railway project

Georgian Foreign Minister Kvirikashvili, we are determined to realize the BTK railway project: Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Azerbaijan.

According to the statement made by the Presidency of Azerbaijan, in the Kvirikashvili-Aliyev meeting, Georgia-Azerbaijan relations, development of relations in various fields, the international importance of projects such as the Southern Gas Corridor, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway and cooperation related to the realization of these projects were discussed.

Kvirikashvili also met with Foreign Minister Memmedyarov.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Memmedyarov said at a joint press conference after the meeting that the partnership between the two countries strengthened day by day. Reminding that they have a common attitude in all international platforms, Memmedyarov stated that he and his Georgian counterpart discussed energy issues and the BTK railroad in a broad manner.

Emphasizing that BTK is an important transport corridor outside the railway, Memmedyarov said, “We must strengthen this project. President Aliyev suggested that Azerbaijan and Georgia present this corridor to the world. First, it should be presented to the Central Asian countries, China and other countries so that this corridor will come to life in a short time ”.

Georgia construction is completed on the land end of the year or next year in Turkey as well Mammadyarov stated that they expect to finish the building, waiting for the end of the building said that this corridor must present to the world.

Kvirikashvili stated that the cooperation in the field of energy in Georgia-Azerbaijan relations has an important place. Reminding that his country is one of the main energy customers of Azerbaijan, but also a transit country for energy lines, Kvirikashvili stated that they are determined for the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, which will carry Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe.

Stating that they intend to develop cooperation in the field of transportation, Kvirikaşvili said, “We play a bridge role between Asia and Europe due to our geographical location. Therefore, we are determined to realize the BTK railway project ”.

Kvirikaşvil stating that they want to improve the economic and regional cooperation, "Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey trilateral meeting of foreign ministers, has turned into an important regional mechanism," he said.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs by the President of Georgia Iraqi Garibashvili on September 1, made his first official visit to Baku.
