Monument for Japanese Engineer

The monument was erected for the Japanese engineer: The memory of the Japanese Engineer Riyoichi Kıshi, who ended his life in Yalova's Altinova cemetery on March 23, 2015 by holding himself responsible for the breaking of the rope of the Gulf Crossing Bridge, is kept alive in Yalova.

Japanese engineer Riyoichi Kıshi, who held himself responsible for this incident after one of the transportation ropes broke during the construction of the catwalk of the Gulf Crossing Bridge, went to the cemetery of Altınova district of Yalova and committed suicide by the method of Harakiri. The death of the Japanese engineer caused sadness in all citizens.

Upon this, Yalova Municipality decided to erect a dignity monument in Yalova for Japanese Engineer Riyoichi Kıshi, unanimously. First of all, the shape and project of the Japanese engineer and the monument to symbolize the incident were determined and approved. Then the monument was built and erected in Yalova.

Yalova Mayor Vefa Salman, who made statements about the monument to be opened tomorrow, said that they want to announce this dignified behavior to the world as a message with this monument. In his statement, Salman said, “Japanese engineer Riyoichi Kıshi, one of the rare experts trained by the World on the Gulf Crossing Bridge on March 23, 2015, was proven to be his own, although this was later proved. As a result of the metal breaking the rope to the bridge, he ended his life in a Japanese tradition, holding himself responsible for it. This event left a deep mark on me. Turkish Japanese relations have always been positive throughout history. Yalova's relations with Japan are important in two ways. The second sister city of Japan is Tonami, Japan. After the 17 August Marmara Earthquake, Tonami provided important assistance to us. I looked at the issue from this angle. When we look at it from a human point of view, it was an honorable and dignified behavior, although its form was opposite to us. The Japanese have a say in business ethics; 'If someone can do something, I can make a bidet. If nobody can, I should. ' I hope this word will give a message to our country and the world, integrated with this monument. ”

The monument attracts the citizens. In front of the monument, Riyoichi read the article giving information about the section of the citizens of such a monument is a very good behavior is expressed.

The iron pieces on both sides of the monument, in the middle of which is named after Japanese engineer Riyoichi Kıshi, symbolize the broken rope. The monument will be officially opened with a ceremony to be held tomorrow.
